I'm One and Feelin' Fun

A lot has happened since my last post. I turned 1 on April 10. We went to Abingdon to have my birthday party. I didn't want to take a nap the morning before the party, so I was really tired once the party started. I got lots of nice things, though. Mommy made me a My Little Pony cake. It was Rainbow Dash, and was BRIGHT blue. I wasn't really that interested in it, though. I didn't dig into it like Mommy had hoped I would do.

Then, on the 10th of May, I had to have emergency surgery on my knee. I had an infection set up in the joint of my knee. The doctor explained that the bacteria that had caused the bronchitis I had two weeks earlier had traveled through my bloodstream and set up an infection in my knee. This is possible because my growth plates aren't fully closed. All I know is that it hurt really bad. My knee swelled up and I couldn't bend it. At the hospital, they put me to sleep and made a little incision in my knee (about an inch long). Then the flushed out the infection. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 days to receive antibiotics. I was ready to leave after the third day.

Once I got home from the hospital, I couldn't go back to daycare, so Mommy had to stay home with me. It was hard for Mommy to work and watch me at the same time. Plus, the antibiotics that they sent me home with make me sick in the mornings. Mommy has to be very careful what she feeds me, or I'll throw up. I'm almost done with the antibiotics now. I have to have one more round of bloodwork to make sure that everthing looks good. I'm doing that tonight.

This weekend, I went to Ohio to visit Nana & Grandfather. Auntie Ann was having a baby shower, too. I had lots of people to hold me and play with me. I even tried to play with Bailey, Auntie Ann's dog. He was really big, though, and kept knocking me over. I liked it when he'd lick my face, though.

After we went to Ohio, we came back to Meadowview and I spent some time with Granny, Poppy & Uncle Brian. I had lots of fun, there too.

Over the past few weeks, I've also picked up a lot of new words. Here's a list of what I can say:

ball - comes out "baaaaaawwww"
balloon - comes out "baoon"
puppy - mostly uses the sign for the word, but will occasionally say it
baby - mostly uses the sign for the word, but will occasionally say it
juice - sounds really close
shoes - sounds like juice if you're not paying attention
socks - sounds like "cock"
clock - sounds like "cock"
moo - she means "cow"
duck - sometimes sounds like "guck"
papaw - comes out "paaaawwww paaaaawwww"
nana - this refers to most women
dada - this can be either Mommy or Daddy
mama - only said when upset & wants Mommy
Allex - comes out "aaaex"
hungry - does the baby sign for this (she points to her mouth)
thirsty - does the baby sign - sometimes can be confused for hungry
pacifier - sign can be confused with hungry or thirsty
Ki - Kiera
fish - she's only said this a couple times, but she's referring to goldfish crackers
bird - she's done the sign for bird a couple times
